Here we are at the New Moon in Cancer. This is normally when I go live in the Cosmic Cafe, but I’m unable to do so this week, so I offer this instead.
In general, the new moon is the blank page moment, the inhale before the creative spark, the soft voice that tells you to wipe the slate clean, start fresh, try something new. The new moon breathes into your heart: the time is right to plant the seeds of your next idea, vision, or dream—especially the ones that require courage or clarity.
Creativity loves the energy of the new moon. Your creativity blooms in stillness, in intention, in the willingness to follow a thread even if you don’t know where it’s going. So if you’ve been wanting to make something or reconnect with that part of yourself that imagines and creates, this moon offers the energetic ingredients for you to pour into your intentions.
As I have stated many times, I’m not an astrologer. I love astrology, however, and find it interesting, valuable, and deeply helpful to listen to people who are astrologers. Here’s a collection of thoughts about this particular moment on our celestial map:
♋️ The Moon is at ease in the sign of Cancer. This is where she belongs. The sign of our emotions, Cancer encourages us to fully experience every feeling and energetic nuance. As we meet this emotionality, it can feel like an emotional roller coaster. But if we attempt to ignore it, the intensity only amplifies. The new Moon in Cancer is a time to sit with any emotions and understand that the only way to find your way back to your true essence is to hold space for and process what’s showing up for you in the moment. - Jill Wintersteen, Yoga Journal
♋️ Cancer season invites us to become aware of how our inner child longs to be seen, loved, and nurtured. This time of the year shines a light on our unmet needs and how they continue to impact our present choices, relationships, and defense mechanisms, inviting us to reflect on what nurtures us and what doesn’t. - Moon Omens
♋️ The Cancer New Moon at 4 degrees on June 25 is an invitation to come home to yourself, which is blessed with the protective force field of Jupiter. New optimistic beginnings are here, and it may be easier to flow with change as the waves carry you forward. This expansive New Moon squares Saturn and Neptune in Aries, which is pushing us out of our comfort zone and into a new reality that is still taking shape and form. - Molly McCord
♋️ This is a phenomenal week to begin whatever you want to begin…be very specific about the things you want to begin…plant the seeds of what you want to grow into…I want us to think about how we can grow ourselves into a person who is not threatened by the tactics of a scarcity mindset…we are the only creatures on this planet that try to extract everything we can from every source of energy we get our hands on…Cancer says we do not extract from all life, we become the bearers and caretakers of life…we become the force of protection that life requires…None of us is safe until all of us are safe. - Chani Nicholas
♋️ This new moon is in Cancer, the sign of home, emotions, and intuition. Cancer energy invites us to tune into our feelings, embrace our sensitivity, and create safe, nurturing spaces for ourselves and others. It’s all about family, roots, and emotional security. - Inky Stars
As you drink water or sit by water or float in a tub of water today, can you allow its flow to assist your belief that even within these currently harsh conditions, the best could happen? Can you find it within yourself to show up for this life with courage and love -- big love, unconditional love -- giving and receiving blessings with abandon? Can you find it within yourself, amid the loud fear-mongering voices, to refuse to harden your heart, your generosity, your love, and acceptance? The moon can help with that.
If you enjoy working with affirmations, here are some you might want to consider taking in your journal today:
🧿 I find security in embracing my uniqueness and individuality.
🧿 I welcome adventure, with my home as my safe base.
🧿 I embrace transformations and deep connections.
🧿 I shine brightly and know that I am safe.
Here is a tarot reading for each sign from The Tarot Lady.
On this new moon, I’m thinking about how very little objective truth there is. We often seek the advice of intuitives, mystics, seers, and theologians to tell us what is true, but truth is not something out there; it’s within us.
We each live in different versions of reality. Our realities are created through our experiences. My perspective and yours are not the same; therefore, my reality and yours are not the same.
When we feel the urge to ask one another what’s going to happen? perhaps the answer is to drop into our hearts, ground into our essence, and feel.
The answer to every question is to stop listening to fear-mongers or those who try to control us through divisive rhetoric. We will never see eye to eye. We will never live in a shared reality. That doesn’t mean we have to be at odds with one another.
And it doesn’t mean we have to be at war.
I am wishing you comfort, love, peace, safety, and creative abundance. We are alive during tumultuous times, but we are brave and we are beautiful and we are rising together.
