The Love List is a monthly creative living dispatch. If you’re accustomed to seeing it on my website, welcome to the newsletter! If you enjoy it, please subscribe, hit the heart button, restack, or leave a comment and tell me what you loved this month!
May Highlights:
There was a TikTok trend this month where people played Bronski Beat and asked their GenX parents to show off their 80’s dance moves and I couldn’t get enough of it. (I bought The Age of Consent at the record store in the Lexington Mall when I was a fifteen and believe me when I say I played the heck out of it!)
Our neighborhood’s annual Porch Party had a beach theme this year. I made fruit cups with flamingo toothpicks and wore a hot pink maxi dress and flowers in my hair. (Dressing for the party is the most fun part of the party.)
We celebrated Mother’s Day with a long patio lunch.
Currently blooming in our garden we have: hairy beardtongue, butterfly weed, Indian pink, lavender, daisies, tickseed, wallflower, coneflower, sunflowers, and hollyhocks.
We were gifted a purple gazing ball.
I had my reading with Sterling, and it was awesome.
This inspired me to focus on healing my gut microbiome!
In the interest of gut health, I made this summer mocktail. Is it actually beneficial? I have no idea, but it was tasty.
I also made this (delicious).
Read, Watched & Listened
My friend Sarah recommended this episode of Thresholds to me - so good!
A friend Mandy sent me this and it brought back memories. (I went to the Spinning Wheel a time or two.)
One of my favorite podcasts, You Are Good, talked about one of my favorite movies, Best in Show.
The true story of what was reminded me of how we sometimes can’t see the magic of our own lives.
Surviving existential exhaustion - we’re tired.
“This is one of the things I love about New York. You can sit and have a private moment in public.”
I’m writing YA, so I’m reading YA - including Sarvenaz Tash’s Three Day Summer. (Do you have any good YA recommendations that are not high fantasy?)
Looking ahead into the energies of June
